Defective Product right out of the box
I had purchased and owned an HP Desktop before and it lasted 2 good years so I thought okay, why not? HP Pavilion DV6000 seemed like a good choice at the time. It lasted 14 months before dying. In those final dying months, the wireless signal started getting weaker in addition to random overheating and lockups. I could partially attribute this to a BIOS update that suddenly caused my PC to no longer start up properly. Then I went online and read the numerous complaints on various forums about the this model. And how people were playing games with HP customer service back and forth waiting for repairs. This is abosuletely ridiculous! How can a company claim to sell a top of the line product and then the defects start showing up. HP admitted that the product has defects and even extended the warranty but when people put down their cash for this laptop they are essentially buying a lemon. Its like buying a used car without looking at the Carfax report first. And yet the company's sales don't dip on this mistake? I realize there are plenty of other laptop companies such as Acer, Sony, and even Dell whose products suffer from either defective parts or shoddy construction but its truly sickening. Its just like Microsoft with Vista and the XBox360. And one of the main reasons why I'm totally weary investing in any kind of new digital technology in the near future. Not interested in owning another $1700+ clunker!
DV6000
My mom bought me this computer for my birthday about six months ago, and I haven't had a single problem any of the other reviewers mentioned. It's been a great computer. Especially for the price.
